Attention Internet Explorer users: Yahoo! has a security path that allows IE to block its ad network (third-party) cookies when a user’s browser privacy setting is set to “Medium High” or “High.” As a result, the NAI opt-out tool, which uses third-party cookies, cannot place an opt-out cookie for browsers in this setting. If you wish to opt out of Yahoo!, you can visit the Yahoo! web site and opt out there or change your privacy settings to “Medium” or lower.

When you opt out of Interest-Based Advertising by one or more member companies by using the NAI opt-out tool, those companies can no longer deliver advertising to you that is based on the websites you visit. For more information about Interest-Based Advertising, please visit our education page.

Please note that if you opt out, you will continue to see the same number of (or more) ads on the web sites you visit, but those ads may be less relevant because they will not be tailored to your perceived interests.  Advertisements help support the content and services provided on these sites.

Please note that the NAI opt-out tool helps stop NAI members from showing you targeted display advertising on the websites you visit and does not use any personally identifiable information. Most NAI member companies do not know any personally identifiable information about you, including your email address.

The NAI opt-out tool cannot stop or reduce the number of unsolicited emails you may receive.  If you would like to report SPAM, or learn more about what you can do to reduce the amount of SPAM you receive please visit http://onguardonline.gov/articles/0038-spam.

Please note that the NAI opt-out tool helps stop NAI members from showing you targeted display advertising on the websites you visit, and does not use any personally identifiable information. Most NAI member companies do not know any personally identifiable information about you, including your telephone contact information.

The NAI opt-out tool cannot stop or reduce the unsolicited text messages you may receive.  If you would like to report unsolicited text messages, please visit http://www.fcc.gov/guides/spam-unwanted-text-messages-and-email.

The opt-out tool sets cookies that stop the tailoring of ads based on the websites you may have visited , but may leave the cookies used for other services untouched. NAI members use cookies to collect and use information for purposes other than Interest-Based Advertising, such as limiting the number of times you see the same ad, and to prevent fraud.

Because the NAI opt-out tool is cookie-based, we cannot opt out on your behalf. The opt out must be performed from each web browser and on each computer on which you wish to opt out of targeted advertising.

Our members do not target advertisements based on personally identifying information. They customize ads based on non-identifying information such as web pages your browser has visited.  (Click here to learn more about Interest-Based Advertising.)

If you would like to remove personally identifying information from a website that collects and publishes such data, you need to contact that website directly.

If you believe that an NAI member company may have personally identifying information about you, you may contact that company directly in order to request the removal of such information.  For a list of all our members please click here.

Please note that the NAI does not have access to any consumer credit card information. If you came a cross a link to the NAI in the privacy policy of a website that you believe may have charged your credit card, you will need to contact the operator of that website directly.
